Introduction:
Dear all,

We are Marketion, a US-based company doing business in Russia. We offer SAAS email marketing system for small and medium sized business. Our system is similar to world industry leaders like MailChimp, iContact, Constant Contact and like these companies we provide our system only for legal use.

We have a strict Anti-Spam policy in use that meet the requirements of CAN-SPAM v. as of year 2003 and Russian Federal laws (art 18. Advertisement items delivered via electronic means of telecommunication. Federal law v. 27 Oct 2008 No 179 FZ). Marketion's Anti-SPAM policy in Russian http://www.marketion.ru/antispam.html . You can simply translate it with your Chrome.

Our company is known for fighting against SPAM in Russia and we try to educate our clients besides providing a high-quality service. Besides, no any viruses, bad scripts or info aren't allowed on our site nor newsletters. But the legal email marketing is a newly born industry in Russia, so some subscribers might not understand what is SPAM and what is legal email campaigns, and that is why some of them put bad ratings on our site with WOT. It resulted in poor rating of our site.

Many our clients in the past 2 days were complaining about site being blocked by their browsers. So the situation literally may cause the end of our company if the recipients cannot use the site and click our links (sign, unsubscribe etc.) in emails.

So please help us.

Thank you so much for notifying, we weren't aware of it. Now our tech specialists are trying to solve the situation. We've contacted TrendMicro.
But it seems strange, no any other antiviruses never reported anything bad of us before.

edit: Here it goes, in just half an hour TrendMicro corrected the analyse results.

Hope for your support and very grateful in advance! Our site is now obviously clean

Your site is also listed with Spamcop: "Appeared on an automatically composed list of spamvertised websites. (Low reliability)"

Thanks A440,

Now we're trying to figure out the reason of it and solving that problem. All our IPs are not blacklisted on Spamcop or elsewhere.
Will update the post with new info

>- Your site is also listed with Spamcop:

That is absolutely WRONG!! You are being misinformed!

SpamCop DOES NOT list web sites or web URLs. Our list contains *ONLY* the IP addresses of servers known to be sending spam.

@SpamCop_Admin, Please explain why a caution from SpamCop (a WOT trusted source) sometimes appears on a domain's WOT scorecard, as it currently appears on scorecard for marketion.ru, and also please explain how a site administrator would get the caution removed. The text of such a caution, which WOT connects to SpamCop, reads: "Appeared on an automatically composed list of spamvertised websites." (emphasis added)

Scorecard screen capture

Trusted source automated reference area
Information from third-party trusted sources

Third-party trusted sources provide additional information from numerous phishing and malware blacklists, and other trusted sources from the web.

Source: SpamCop
Comment: [cite]Appeared on an automatically composed list of spamvertised websites. (Low reliability) [link][/cite]

SpamCop's affect to reputation
Is [yellow]CAUTIONARY[/yellow] - because it is to be viewed as a low reliability, as stated in it's reference.

If you click on the provided "SpamCop" link referenced on the scorecard (or in this post), you are directed to this page:

Code: Select all

Spamvertised Sites - SpamCop
http://www.spamcop.net/w3m?action=inprogress;type=www

from where the domains are extracted.
This entry is not from a "blacklist" hence the notification as being low reliability

From WOT's Wiki:Trusted sources::Spam
http://www.mywot.com/wiki/Trusted_Sources#Spam

SpamCop

Entries on the scorecard come from their statistics of spamvertised websites, not from their blacklist. These SpamCop entries have very little effect on the site's reputation and are referenced as an advisory
.

Many domains that have a SpamCop scorecard reference may eventually appear in Jowein's spam list or through SURBL; but not all, just as not every domain listed on URIBL's RSS feed is actually "blacklisted" by uribl.com

[edit: 10 April 2012 15:45 ET]
The scorecard reference now states:
[cite]Appeared on an automatically composed page of spamvertised websites. (Low reliability) [link][/cite]
list has been changed to page, hopefully to reduce confusion

I've also edited the wiki to clarify source.

@g7w, you saying, are you not, that A440 was correct after all? SpamCop Admin may have mixed up the remark by A440 (who did not use the word blacklist) with the reply by Semaphore68, who wrote: [cite]All our IPs are not blacklisted on Spamcop or elsewhere. "[/cite]
