@ Timo - colors please

Discussing Language barriers with Soran in another topic (hope you're viewing that one too) it just hit me...

WOT's simplicity to the User is via it's colors. We see the color and know the safety no matter the language. As WOT users increase Forum participation should increase as well. For an English only forum it's hard for others to communicate.

Could you give us 2 more tags for use in text entry?

Code: Select all

<red></red> and <green></green>

When announcing a list of domains and requesting a red rating, it would be easy for any language to see the request visually, like so:

Code: Select all

How about orange too..?

Good idea! But I'd like to see the intermediate colour too;
some sites are neither green or red...

when do we request

Post by c۞g » Tue Jun 09, 2009 3:49 am

to rate a site other than red or green?

I don't think I've ever seen a post stating:

Malicious content
Rate = Orange

or good website, let's rate it orange.

Red/green is too binary, imo

Post by phantazm » Tue Jun 09, 2009 10:11 am

Of course you're right, if you ask if malicious content should only be orange.

However, it's still possible to be 'not good' without being evil.

A site can be 100% legal, and yet score 0% ethically.
In that case it's neither red, nor green, imo,
and yellow would be precise.

PS: I rarely use yellow, but I still value the option...

I like it. Evidently you guys at WOT did too. Nice quick mod. And I see it's down in the "Allowed" info under this posting window.

My compliments to g7w for the idea (just exactly what were you doing when that revelation occurred? I'm usually dozing off when I get those lightning bolts . . . in "that place". Or then again, a lot of revelations come to me when I'm standing in front of the urinal wating for the swollen GOM prostate to lighten up a bit and let things through . . . OK, maybe too graphic there) and to Timo for the fast implementation.

I really like this idea too!

Especially, important notices or warnings can now also be written in bold RED!

Please don't overdo it

Remember, that colour (like movement) is a very strong visual attractor.
Right now "New" and "Recent" stands out, because coloured words have no competition. That could easily change if all posts are sprinkled with colours.
I'm sure it could be a pretty sight. But perhaps not so practical...?

PS: It's the longer threads I worry about most. It really saves time,
if one can quickly spot the new and recent entries.
I hope this doesn't change...

PS: I remember once having seen a website from the experimenting 90'ties.
Every font and every colour used all the time. The result was quite fascinating.
It was also completely unreadable...
