Cocoon prevents automatic drive-by-downloads?

Post by IMFanOfWOT » Sun Jun 17, 2012 4:08 pm

Hello everyone,

A few moths ago I heard about Cocoon: Online Security Protection Software.
I am sure WOT members already know about the software.
Cocoon guarantees protection from drive-by-downloads.
Have WOT members tried the software?
I want to know the views.
The link to Cocoon features: https://getcocoon.com/features/security

Unlike some here, I see what you are doing from the two posts you have made.
This one and here: https://www.mywot.com/en/forum/24164-norton-identity-safe-vs-cocoon

You are no doubt in my opinion spamming the WoT forum. . . and so rating the site you keep mentioning.

Just for your information:

I removed the previous post as per forum guidelines -[try not to duplicate posts] and notified the user via board.
I think "IMFanofWoT" is not a spamming that site but he is an old acquaintance who just changed his user name.
Maybe I am wrong of course;)

No, never heard of it before.
Would you please tell me more?
It appears many users trust that site and that software

I can understand the reason behind removing the post. No problem. :)

Yes, I changed my username as the previous one had my real name. :)
I have used Cocoon. For every website we visit Cocoon acts as an intermediate between the server and our system. Cocoon checks the content being transferred to our system thus securing the system.
However AV technology used by it doesn't scan the big file: a drawback.
But it has many other advantages: securing privacy, saving passwords online, protection against drive-by-downloads.

I have never considered saving passwords online to be either safe or an advantage. There is no way of knowing who has access to those passwords saved online, and there is no reason to believe that somebody else's security will be any better than my own. The best place to save passwords is on removable media that is kept separate from the computer and only attached when required.

I believe that Jazspeak is right. However other features of Cocoon should be tried but webpages load a little slower as the request is first passed from Cocoon's server to domain server.

I think some claims are a bit questionable. For comparison of email security to the one provided by Gmail, as it provides document viewing on cloud too. Malware can't pass through it ? There is always a chance :)

Yes, you are right. By the way Cocoon has recently made some features in paid version! Now I can say functioning of free version is a bit questionable.
