if you see a bit.ly link posted on the internet somewhere, do you click the WOT icon of the link before clicking the actual link to see what website it directs you to???
I think the question is valid and appropriate for the WOT forum as it relates to how people use WOT to have a better Internet experience. My answer is it depends on where and how I found the bit.ly link. If it from a site I know and trust, then I'm likely to just click the link. If it is from a site I don't know or trust then I will do a little research before I click. If it came in email, even from someone I know, I'll confirm they sent it or ignore it depending on my interest level.
Before the WOT scorecard, I sometimes use http://untiny.me/ to extract those bit.ly links, then copy-paste the extracted links to website reputation bar to examine whether it is safe or not. Other than that, I'll never mind those shortened links (except those bit.ly links from trusted sources).
I usually don't click them at all. Unless you're on Twitter, my theory goes, why would you need to shorten a link if it wasn't to conceal the URL?
