Donald Trump spam - never opted in, ignoring unsubscribe requests

Post by Site-rater » Tue Jun 07, 2016 9:33 pm

I don't know, but somehow I got on the mailing list for Donald Trump, and the mail I just got has a somewhat offensive title. It links to secure.trump2016.com (whose security I question because it is MITM'ed by CloudFlare)

Is this e-mail real or fake? The subject "Crooked Hillary will hate this, RECIPIENT NAME" seems a bit offensive and potentially libelous, don't you think?

I never opted in to the Donald Trump campaign.

The contents are as follows with full headers, name replaced with RECIPIENT NAME and e-mail replaced with recipient@exmaple.com:

Looks like it might be:

hxxp://whois.domaintools.com/trump2016.com

What they're doing with 5 IP addresses is anyone's guess

hxxps://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=trump2016.com

Yep, CloudFlare:

Add 104.16.223.117 to hxxps://www.whatismyip.com/ip-address-lookup/?iref=cta

Contradictory, considering that one of Mr. Drumpf's main boasts is that he is rich enough to finance his own campaign; from which we are supposed to believe that he is not beholden to any rich contributors or special interests, unlike all those other contenders.

And why is it necessary for this
email.vervemail.com/ct/identification_strings
to intercede and possibly tag along for the ride after redirecting to
secure.trump2016.com/invest/?tracking_and_specs
from whence you will actually pay donate?

Odd addresses in the source code:
app.revv.co
igorescobar.github.io
js.stripe.com
support.revv.co

Personally I would want to know more about "Igor Escobar" before taking the bait. If you didn't opt in, that's why it's called "spam".

Once again today, I got more unsolicited e-mails from the Trump campaign. They have ignored my unsubscribe request.
Spam contents, once again e-mail address replaced with "recipient@example.com" and name replaced with "RECIPIENT NAME", at pastebin.com/07XVeYvr

That spam looks supicious.
The second line has "barretos" (from smtp.barretos.bluehornet.com) in it, which is in Brazil. The ISP "Bluehornet.com" is in San Diego.
If one follows the news in America, Trump's has angered many Latinos with his rhetoric.

bluehornet.com looks like a specialist in email spam campaigns too. I would rate bluehornet.com at the very least though this smells like a joe job to me because targeting an obvious member of WOT would be too easy to do.

An unsubscribe button in obvious spam can also be a trap.
If you click, the sender can see that he's caught a "live'( active ) mailaddress.
SPAM : My method : make a detection on WOT and "delete" without reflecting to it.

OTOH : I wouldn't be surprised if this came from the Trump campaign.
His methods are a bit blurry, carefully said...
It was in the news here that he illegally uses an picture of a mineworker on an election poster.
That picture is a Dutch actor and owned by a photographer in Haarlem - Holland
Placed on Shutterstock under copyright and "stolen". If I may say so.

BTW : i feel sorry for you Americans. My opinion :
You have to choose between Donald the Cheater and Pinokkio Clinton.
No more flavours available than this.
ROTFL - And we're worried in Europe........

Thanks, but don't be!
We are going to do just great, just watch and see, but please stop the offensive remarks about our nation, in six years as member of WOT is being the same story about insulting this nation and most Americans are tired, starting with me

You would not accept it, if it was said about your country so be nice

Maybe

If Hillary wins expect war or confrontation in Europe, if Donald wins expect the U.S to leave NATO until they pay their dues and better communications with Russia, which will make sense, as it seems that the Russians truly appreciate us, an oversight from the present president

As an ex European with family and friends, living there, I truly get upset of the same jokes and offenses

My opinion and let it go at that

Relax mate, I was just joking. No idea that I'm hitting an open nerve.
I was in the USA about two weeks ago for a 3 day - conference.
I've spoken with many native Americans and it's again and again the same story.
They don't trust them both and wish they had more choice. So those aren't only my words.

And btw : Whatever country you live in, politics is always trouble.
Hence one needs some humor.........
Democracy isn't a perfect system, but everything else is worse.

Yes indeed. Currently politics has become almost tribal in the US and I worry about after this election because Americans are screaming for change and both major party leadership don't want and can not deliver. If both major parties and major media block political reform (yes they do), there will be more hell to pay, sooner or later.
