I hate this to sound like an echo chamber but...

Post by amishrabbit » Tue Jun 15, 2010 7:35 am

...I also used the "check website" form/text entry box at the top of the page all the time, and it's really annoying to have to manually enter the URL in the address bar in order to get there. Please restore this UI element to the top of the page. Pretty please?

I've been using the "reputation" link on Robtex as a substitute, since I use both sites, but it seems like Robtex has been extremely slow and busy the past few days.

Contrast in general appears to be a problem. I'm glad other people chimed in before me on this. I don't like text in a text entry box which isn't completely black, like the text in the fields I'm using to type this message right now. It looks light grey and is hard on the eyes. I don't have "old eyes" -- it's just hard to read, period.

And by the way, if you're going to have a fancy graphic of oversized curly open-quotation marks at the beginning of each forum post, could you please at least put a closed-quotation mark at the end? It just looks weird and broken.

Echo on the quotation marks

Post by Guest » Tue Jun 15, 2010 10:12 am

Not a big deal . . . more cosmetic than anything . . . but I also have noticed that the quotation mark is not closed.

Actually, I would ditch the whole thing . . . can be very confusing when a poster quotes someone else and uses quotation marks without em or strong tags.

Anyway, if it's a quick fix, fine . . . if not, I wouldn't spend too much time on it. You've got bigger fish to fry.

Why ?

Post by Dutch Mountain » Tue Jun 15, 2010 11:34 am

Came back after a week holiday and saw the new lay out. I can not really get used to it so far, It's all so screaming white for instance.
To me it's not yet an improvement. What was wrong with the old version ?

"Wotting" below sea level, safe (?) behind a "Dutch mountain".

Why not?

All is changing around us. So why not change a layout from time to time?
Or like Heraklit has said, 1500 years ago: "Nothing is more constant than change." :)

Re: Buttons on home page

what immediately comes to mind is buttons on the home page, particularly the white-on-green

They should be slightly better now with a small dark shadow around the text (on all modern browsers where such trickery is supported).

Please restore this UI element to the top of the page

It's coming.

Edit: It's back. Could be prettier though.
