Right Click Menu

Post by andrew.perrong » Wed May 09, 2012 11:38 pm

How do I get rid of the menu that pops up with "show WOT scorecard" when I rightclick a link? I hate it!

What browser do you use?
Right-click the link on... what, a search results page?
Can you submit a screen capture?

If you mean the popup that displays on:hover such as on a Google search results page, you can disable that in: https://www.mywot.com/settings/popup
just remember to click Apply Settings after clearing the check mark.

I use Chrome.
I think it is a new update.
It happens when I right click on a link or selected text (in which case it shows the scorecard for google.)

hi, "Open WOT scorecard" menu item was added in the latest version of Chrome's addon.

Main purpose for adding item to the menu - is to provide more convenient way for opening scorecard instead of copy&paste url or hostname. Now user can simply select hostname (on this forum hostnames are usually not a links), or right-click url on any site and see scorecard without manual tricks with copy&pasting.

Andrew, why do you hate it? How it impacts your experience?

It is just annoying and distracting. I would not care as much if there was no obnoxious green circle. And it also is very buggy. When I select text, it acts as if the text I selected was a link.

Andrew, selection text for this menu item isn't a bug, it is a feature, to help active WOT users open scorecards from forum posts, where domains are usually presented as plain text.

But thanks for your opinion, I counted it.

Here's my browser right-click both link and text. - http://i.imgur.com/GZdFG.png

As you can see, various add-ons may be included in the browser right-click menu for convenience.
Personally, I find them neither annoying nor "distracting" though I've become used to "long right-click menus"
They're especially handy for those new windows that pop up/under with the menu / navigation / bookmark / _other_ tool-bars disabled.

As for "removing" see:

g7w, I wouldn't recommend users changing manifest file by hands - these changes will be overwritten with next update of add-on.

nice feature, but is it for Chrome only?
I do not see it in Firefox 12 (no scorecard for plaintext) nor in Opera 11.62 (neither plaintext nor with links) using latest WOT addons.
