Third Party Source Request and Software Review Request

Post by Colbabomb » Sun Apr 14, 2013 7:36 pm

I know WOT has a trusted source section, but I think Wot should have more third party sources than Norton and HpHosts. Like for example have a link to virustotal on the scorecard or provide a couple more suggestions yourselves.

Second, if the website promotes software have a softpedia and cnet (again, on the scorecard) link and if one is not available dont displaty the link at all. To me these should be valuable features to wot.

WOT does have more truested sources such as Legitscript and Joewein (plus others). If you browse a few scorcards you will come across those and a few more.

In my opinion it makes no sense, although I trust softpedia, please see for example:

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Popup-Ad-Spyware-Blockers/STOPzilla.shtml

scorecard: https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/stopzilla.com

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivirus/Removal-Tools/Xbarre-Removal-Tool.shtml

scorecard: https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/securitystronghold.com

However everything is possible

I don't think it is wise for WOT to include links within site scorecards advertising where visitors can download the webasters software through locations such as cnet, softpedia or anyone else.
Think of it this way. if they did, what is to stop criminals exploiting this to peddle phishing, scareware, malware and many other bad stuff?

What about a virus total link or having a couple more security blacklists shown (more info, more awareness).

Somehow I think you believe that mywot is something similar to an antivirus, maybe I'm wrong, however mywot is about trust

Because Avast /Avira etc are not Trusted sources.
In my opinion the more "blacklists" are added, the more are the chances to get false positive or outdated detections
