Twitter being bought out

Post by Site-rater » Mon Apr 25, 2022 8:08 pm

Posting this as depending what happens it may be appropriate to re-rate accordingly.

Also, did I notice WOT killed off the Twitter "subdomain" rating system years ago with their buggy redesign?

A rich, scat-flinging monkey bought them out, thus I'm off Twitter.
WOT, Twitter, Facebook — a partial list of spoiled ideas due to $.

Everything is not fine! Twitter have not addressed the issue of fake accounts. All SM sites are plagued with fake accounts, and none employ enough staff to deal with this, or to moderate their platforms.

A quick search shows countless sites offering fake Twitter followers etc. Whilst some of these sites may just steal your money, many others appear to be successful having been around for up to 10 yrs; and some have managed to manipulate their own TrustPilot / Wot ratings.

Twitter whistleblower raises security concerns
A former security chief for Twitter has turned whistleblower and testified that the company misled users and US regulators about gaps in its security.

Peiter Zatko also claimed that Twitter underestimated how many fake and spam accounts are on its platform.

The accusations could affect a legal battle between Twitter and billionaire Elon Musk, who is trying to cancel his $44bn (£37bn) deal to buy the company.

Twitter says Mr Zatko's allegations are inaccurate and inconsistent.

It says he was sacked in January for ineffective leadership and poor performance.
Twitter still denying what's so obvious to others.

Quite a few people seem to think that Musk is going to kill this app by opening up its speech restrictions.
That may be correct because if Twitter becomes the shit show that Trump's social media has gone, then Apple and Google will delist the twitter application, which I would be happy to see.

I hate what social media has become.

Apparently Elon is treading lightly so far, but already edgy accounts are testing the boundaries.

Bigger problem is that Verified marks can now be purchased for $8/month without any real verification, which will likely mean scammers abusing their newfound ability to look genuine.

Yep, reading through accounts of what is happening, the whole affair is such a shite show already.
Musk didn't just screw the pooch, he baked him into a pie and is selling slices.
