RE: Your views on advertising on websites

In my opinion, ads are a mixed bag. They provide fuel for some good websites would otherwise close, and who really don't want them can turn it off with a click (with a decent browser). But on the other side flashing ads really make difficult to read a page, and there are deceptive ones resembling bu...

RE: Millions of sites hit with mass-injection cyberattack

It is not the same as a realtime database of infected websites as online a/v have: big sites get millions hit day, and such mechanism may result in to many users exposed to risk before rating can be effectively lowered to red - unless administrators can abruptly override past user's votes, but they ...

RE: Millions of sites hit with mass-injection cyberattack

IMHO it is the voting framework itself that, while fine for establishing a reputation in the long term, is not equally suitable to warn users of an emergent attack that may typically last anywhere form few hours to some days, depending on how good the admins are. To be able to say "avoid this websit...

RE: Millions of sites hit with mass-injection cyberattack

I think WOT should have (or hire) a realtime link scan technology. Ratings are a good tool, but the best site in the world should have a big red donut while infected, and users should be informed as soon as possible, in a matter of hours! Then we could also talk about adding a rating category for ho...

RE: Google Adsense/Adwords

Agree, there are some ads that seems tricky, a lot. Business behind that ads may be ok (MAY), but imho they violates fair design guidelines to say the least. But on Facebook it is much worse, most of the ads seems made to attract unaware user's clicks, so probably big G is following today's average ...

RE: windows 7 and WOT

I've migrated to W7 64 bit a week ago and I'm running WOT without problems, although not on IE (Opera FTW!). If you have W7 you logically have an IE more recent than IE6 by default, so as Sami said it should be a problem due to insufficient privileges and you need to start the installer as Administr...

RE: firefox = better then ie - and Opera better than both!

Lately IE is improving but IMHO FF is still better and has a lot more useful extensions. Both browsers are working hard on next generation, finally we are seeing some serious competition. However I still prefer Opera as while it is a quite light and streamlined application it comes out of the box wi...
