Well oiled PC - probable shared IP problem.

It is possible for a domain to have been used by spammers etc., and then to have been purchase in good faith, without the purchaser knowing of its history. I accept that is probably what has happened here. I like your write-up about viruses. It covers all the essential points in a very clear manner....

Dangerous ?

Perhaps 'dangerous' is too strong a word. How about 'non-html compliant'? How about 'dishonest'? Not html compliant: merely highlighting the domain name: www.onlinecashmethod.com caused my browser to actually <strong>load</strong> that site's home page, which was <strong>not</strong> my intention. D...

My antivirus is -

My antivirus is AVG free. It is definitely a bit of a resource hog, and a bit slow. I can put up with that because, although I have hundreds of gigs of data to scan daily, I run a dual core machine. Even though I run my browser in a sandbox, I still need a very good antivirus so I can warn others ab...

How I found WOT

I can't remember exactly where I first saw WOT mentioned. What I do remember is that, having never heard of it, I did some checks. The only thing I ever heard against WOT was that it did not properly cite its sources. That is a problem easily remedied by having more people on board with experience o...

liutilities - my complaint.

The last time I checked, Microsoft clearly stated that gold partner status is not an endorsement by Microsoft of any company or product. My complaint against liusoft is its deceptive practices: they use the gold partner status as if it were an endorsement, and they have a bogus HackerSafe logo on th...

Not fully in agreement.

Yes, BobJam, that specific SA upgrade did annoy a lot of people. However, in fairness, when I am offered an upgrade for trusted software like Firefox, WOT, SA, AVG etc I usually allow it. If the SA upgrade was offered, i would have taken the offer, so it doesn't fit my definition of malware. However...

Re: rating the root.

The best way to deal with something that people agree to be a bad thing is to complain about its source. This rootkit DRM rubbish is used in CDs and DVDs from a large number of sources. We would have to rate the movie company, the movie publisher, the distributor and the DVD manufacturer. btw I have...
