RE: I seriously love the Blocking system In WOT
I don't have time to post all of the links and give detailed instructions but what you want are the NoScript, Request Policy and Cookie Whitelist With Buttons add-ons. When used correctly you could even go to a virus site and unless you lower your defenses nothing is going to get through. Another th...

RE: 2013 or 1984?
One argument that keeps coming up is the "If you aren't doing anything wrong you don't have anything to worry about/I just talk about my cat, I don't say anything interesting" line of thinking and unfortunately that is wrong on multiple levels. 1. There is the basic issue of rights violations and Am...

RE: Software with a Subscription Fee
I teach tech(not at a university) but I have a family member who just registered at one and they basically forced her to use all kinds of lame name-brand proprietary software and that really is the entire business model: Get government agencies and universities to pay insanely inflated prices for so...

RE: Privacy is the most important issue.
I hear what you are both saying and IMO I think that the new system is CLOSE(sorry, I don't see any tags for things like italics or bold). I really do like how it is possible to go into more detail about WHY we give ratings. My central contention is that there are 2 graphics which we immediately see...

Privacy is the most important issue.
In many ways I like the new system because people can be more specific. That will help give more accurate ratings. I also have mixed feelings about it no longer having 4 sliders. One improvement is the new system doesn't let people lazily slide all 4 in the same direction when often times one or mor...

RE: Bias against Homeopathy
Fraudulent products are a textbook reason for red flags. It may be true that there is a ton of money to be made from selling to the ignorant, the superstitious, the hokey... But it still doesn't make it right. Many people are out there looking for magic or that certain extra something that doesn't e...
