RE: Site looks reliable but..

Nods, sometimes it is done manually as well. Sometimes cheap workers or cheap seo firm is hired.
And sometimes it is competition that spams, though it is more likely for sites with actual traffic.

RE: Site looks reliable but..

Hi. Obvious, that g7w forgot to test payment page. The payment page collects some PII like address, and redirects to paypal site for actual payment. Which is safe. They do not get your credit card info, nor they can overcharge you. Paypal payments can be disputed usually. Now what leads to blog spam...

RE: List of antivirus sites

Please remember, that WOT is about trust, and not only "facts". Also, there is more than single critter for rating a website/antivirus engine/etc. There are lots of brand advocates for any of Antivirus/Anti-Malware engines that would not believe facts. Even ones that are educated at the field. It is...

Quick note: Download AVG from official site only for now

There is a fake AVG Antivirus 2011 in the wild, that looks very similar to real one, installs in about the same location, but asks money and prevents PC from normal operation. Personally, I would recommend downloading AVG from their main website only (and even then taking care due to possible DNS hi...

RE: LinkedIn : just as bad as Facebook ! ! !

Actually, I have similar policy - I contact only people that I know there, and do not invite others. Even then, I choose whom to connect. I had had no problems or spam emails sent from linkedin. So either an invite button was pressed or something went wrong in linkedin itself. Hi5, Tagged are much m...

RE: Don't buy it

This is different one " we haven't thought about that" sort of excuse. I doubt FB, or Email, or socializing in general was created with evil intent. However, I fully agree that they have to improve.

RE: Don't share your number or address With Facebook...Beware!!!

So is internet as whole :) Or windows/linux/Mac and PC in general. Is Email protocol responsible that we get that much spam? Sure it is, as SPF records/ sender email validation are not required. Before that, it cost more sending out spam (printing/mailing costs). In the end, it is not very relevant....

RE: Don't share your number or address With Facebook...Beware!!!

That is not surprising - but the cause and result is reversed. Social networking threats are created due to increasing popularity of social networks. The same was with internet based threats, Email spam and so on before current times. There is challenge to prevent such infections and not put blame o...

RE: My turn: lucrativeminds.com

I would recommend a) Disclosing affiliate relationship with products and services you list/promote ( for example, https://lucrativeminds.com/opportunities/global-freedom-family.html ) here it is an affiliated link through clickbank. I would create a full disclosure page about that, listing all major...

RE: Don't share your number or address With Facebook...Beware!!!

Actually, as far as I understand,. this is completely new setting for accessing information. Applications can not access that information by default, and user chooses if he wants to provide that information for application. This is opt-in, not opt-out, thus the concern about privacy changes does not...
