RE: RadioShack puts customer personal data up for sale in bankru

This is why I always say my phone number is unlisted, never give an email address, and pay cash for smaller items. I do; however; find it humorous that people are upset at Radio Shack for selling this data but will happily tweet or post on Facebook "I just bought XYZ at Radio Shack". We are only ups...

RE: Microsoft's Windows 10 Preview has permission to watch your

I agree with you MysteryFCM, however, not everyone that wants to try out Windows 10 TP understands all that comes with it. The problem comes down to trust and personal responsibility. Companies are forced to create multi-page T&C / EULA documents because somewhere someone did something stupid and wa...

RE: Another day of embarrassment for the U.S.A !

There is a certain irony of using social forums to post your innermost thoughts, opinions, activities for the world to see and complaining about all the government espionage. Do you think that governments don't monitor Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and even WOT? We all know that governments spy on eac...

RE: Should WOT block political sites?

Agree with a couple of comments here 1) WOT doesn't block anything, it just warns that you may not want to go to that page but it gives you the choice 2) WOT stands for Web of TRUST, not Web of Safety, some of the ratings have a safety component but ultimately the question is do you TRUST the site. ...

RE: eBay security compromised, users urged to change passwords

Unfortunately these problems are going to continue to be more frequent. All the systems that we enjoy are getting more and more complex. That complex leads to flaws and those flaws will lead to breaches. My rules for on-line life: 1) Never post anything you wouldn't want published on the front page ...

RE: Reporting child pornography

I had to deal with this on the job several years ago. Several employees were visiting known porn sites. One of them contained what looked to be an underage "model". I worked a government office at the time. We contacted the FBI, they directed us to the Innocent Images department. We explained that w...

RE: Another Target Scam? I Just Received this in an email

The same information is posted on Target's web site. If you investigate it all appears legit, however, there are differing views on the monitoring being offered. There are comments that after you sign up for the free monitoring Experian pushes you to enroll in their paid services. The monitoring off...

RE: Think Cookies Hurt Your Privacy?

If you use Firefox install the Lightbeam add-on, it will provide a graphic view of your web browsing - including all the third-party sites you visit when you hit a page like weather.com. It will also show all the cookies these sites share. Here is how I deal with cookies and tracking today: reject a...

RE: I can't use WOT anymore

I've seen the same problem NoLasagna described in the comments that people post regarding various sites, however, I have not seen examples where the overall score a of site is greatly impacted. Maybe I just visit more mainstream sites that get enough balanced rates. I wouldn't give up on WOT entirel...

RE: What is the proper way to rate a website

The rating categories can take on a different meaning based on the type of site you are visiting. For example: Amazon.com vs. your favorite entertainment blog. For Amazon I am expecting them to 1) keep my personal information secure 2) ship the products I ordered and 3) charge the price shown on the...
