Site URL: http://hostbuddy.com
Scorecard: View scorecard

Introduction:
Hi Everyone,

Hostbuddy.com is a webhosting company. About 1 month ago, our customer used hostbuddy.com subdomain such as customer.hostbuddy.com, customer1.hostbuddy.com to make scam and phishing sites. And because of this, we got bad rating on WOT.

The Solution:
-------------------------
We've since deleted ALL subdomains and stop letting anyone use *.hostbuddy.com

My Mistakes:
------------------------
I was desperate and was dumb enough to buy 2 reviews from Fiverr in hoping to correct my ratings. I've fixed this mistake by removing those purchased ratings and left a bad feedback on Fiverr.com so hopefully it will help other people in the future.

My Conclusion:
------------------------
I screwed up, made stupid mistakes and I put in 100% effort to fix everything. Now I hope anyone of you that sees this can help me with my rating.

Members put a lot of effort into your previous thread, which you had hidden because you didn't like the posts - why should they contribute to another one?
You bought reviews from fiverr gigs, my rating remains.

Updated my comment on review of the network running hostbuddy; hostbuddy is networked to another web of distrusted (WOD).:

I can't control what my datacenter provider do. Neither can we move away, we have hundreds of servers in there.
I don't understand why it's so hard for everyone to see that Hostbuddy is safe to visit. I just want the public to know that Hostbuddy is safe to visit. Otherwise, what's the purpose of WOT if WOT isn't accurate. For those who want to make WOT accurate and useful, please help us fix our ranking.

Yes we did bought reviews from Fiverr and it was a big mistake. I have also mentioned that in this thread publicly. Everyone makes mistake in their past and I am not trying to hide it. I only want people to know that we've learned and we did everything we can to fix our site. Our site is now absolutely safe to visit.

I didn't change my mind about your error. I mean, you have done a mistake because of your lack of knowledge about WOT but you let some bad feedbacks on Fiverr to prevent some other owners being swindled... So it was a good thing and it is OK for me (This is my own opinion and I fully respect the other opinions of course).

Also, don't forget that a lot of your subdomains have a very poor reputation because they were listed on phishtank (WOT trusted source). So, by inheritance, your main domain was impacted.

Similarly, the reputation of each subdomain contributes to the parent domain's reputation. If a domain has lots of untrustworthy subdomains, its reputation will suffer, and, therefore, the reputation of any new subdomains will suffer as well. We designed this logic within the WOT system to model the way trust works in real life.

You will need more time to have all these subdomains cleared.

Thank you Matiks. How long will those poor reputation Subdomains stay in the system? I've already deleted all of them, will myWOT see them as DEAD Site and remove it from the system?

How long before the people who entered personal information, passwords and credit card numbers on phishing sites get their money/lives back?

Actions have consequences. But WOT ratings at least decay with time.

We are not the ones that created the phishing sites. We are just a hosting company and we've already deleted ALL of them.

Hi everyone, I just want to see if I can get some help with our rating. We are a legit web hosting company but was abused by scammers few months ago. We fixed the problem long time ago already and hopefully, this time someone can give us a better ranking.

Thank you everyone.
