otaku-unlimited.net Rep Redemption

Post by Zagrom » Wed May 11, 2011 9:18 pm

Site URL: http://otaku-unlimited.net
Scorecard: View scorecard

Introduction:
Otaku-Unlimited.net (.com) is an anime/manga/gamer site, most its activity is based
in the forums. It has a small shopping section that doesn't get much activity. If you
don't like anime, video games, etc. don't give it a low score for that, we all know that's
not fair, please read my little rant below to have a better understanding as to why
I am asking for that review.

Personally, I do not like the way WOT evaluates websites, I had to make an account
because I just found my website on here by accident the other day and someone
had claimed that OU was "involved in a Mass-Defacement activity" this is a lie,
s/he got there information from Zone-H, which when I looked up, can give a bad
rep to a site with little moderation, same as wot.

Its not fair that my site has gotten this claim, noted that the poster that said this
noted it "For Historical Purposes Only" it still makes it seem like we had low
security and were attacked in the past, it could happen again, it never happened
tho!

The other day I made a comment about it o there and my score has been going
down ever sense. I'm willing to bet most people don't even look at most these sites
and just vote with other people who seem to know what they are talking about. I
know for a fact none of these people have bought anything from me so they cant
rightly give me a low Vendor reliability score.

Will someone end the madness?
I don't think otaku-unlimited.net (or .com they go to the same place) deserves the
decreasing scores that there getting. Is anyone else willing to agree.

Thank you for reading all this.

Rated and commented.

But please remember I am merely a little corn of sand on the beach called WOT, meaning: my rating won't change the world. ;)

All the same, thank you very much, I appreciate it as I do all I can as a webmaster with my
limited knowledge to keep members of my site happy and safe and I want to try and have
a score to match.

I see the problem and from the OP I realize who the rater is leaving that generic version of a comment

Your domain: otaku-unlimited.net
sits on IP: 97.74.249.128
which is a shared server, many sites reside there

But the IP has been recorded with Phishing incidents all are dead at this moment and are related to other domains, not yours. However some members will gather all the domain names from an IP and rate them just the same, which is not how site ratings / reviews are to be made. Your best option would be to contact the user(s) leaving poor comments (Phish / Malware / etc) and contact them directly.

As far as having to register to post on the forums...
Does your forum allow anonymous user posting?
Imaging the spam that would attract.

Also, instead of being discouraged about WOT...
It's a pretty good idea when you come to understand it.
You could even add it to your own blog / forum for external links
And if you encouraged other frequent gamers to site to use it, they could rate the site as well, increasing your reputation by those who know you best.

just a thought ...

Oh and BTW, I used to be in an old FPS Clan; Shogo-MAD Clan <gts>
Shogo-MAD was an anime-based FPS, BTW.
Rocket call was a forum favorite now and then, LOL
some good old days there ... ;-)

peace,

Thank you for clearing this up, this is something I had considered, I know my domain is hosted
with several others, if I had the money I would switch over to a dedicated server.

Thanks again for your comment
