Introduction:
Hello! My family and I run a small company called Paws For A Cause. We sell American-made dog and people products and donate 100% of profits to shelters. I was hoping I could get some reviews for our website.

I noticed today that we have one WOT rating, and it says poor. The reason is for malware and viruses. I don't know why we received that rating, but I'd love some feedback. The website runs on Drupal 7, and has an up to date SSL cert. We use Auth.net to protect all of our customers credit card info.

Thanks so much!

Greetings and welcome to WOT. Whoever rated did not appear to leave any comments. Not listed by any of the trusted sources (except WOT) at URLVoid - hxxp://www.urlvoid.com/scan/pawsforacause.com/. I can't detect any malware at the site.

Your Privacy Policy should specifically mention the use of Google Analytics per their terms of service: hxxps://www.google.com/analytics/terms/us.html (Check paragraph 7).

Your IP address (116.197.146.14) traces to Comcast, Mount Laurel, New Jersey. Any reason the domain administrative contact is using a privacy service?

Your SSL needs a bit of work: hxxps://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=pawsforacause.com

I will not be rating at this time. Cheers.

Regarding the malware listing, that should be an alert to you to audit your website for malicious attacks.

For the SSL Labs alert, if your copy of Ubuntu is still supported, you should be able to fix the issue by bringing up a terminal on the VPS and typing the following commands:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
Your Apache version may need to be upgraded too, though Canonical often "freezes" the Apache version and backports security fixes into the distributed version.
If you are using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, you are still supported for security updates, though you may want to consider being prepared for migration.

P.S. If you haven't already, check your Linode Manager, as most users are eligible for a free RAM upgrade, doubled for the smaller plans. If you are still using a Xen VPS though you will have to convert it to KVM first to redeem your free upgrade. Try to do so during a low traffic period, your VPS will be down for a few minutes.

Your contact e-mail refers to a domain paws-cause.com which has an expired SSL certificate. May want to get that renewed if you are still using the domain for web purposes, even if it is just a free Letsencrypt certificate just to make the redirect load.

Thanks so much for the feedback everyone! I'll go ahead and make these fixes and post once they're done. Some of these things are a bit over my head, so I'll have to reach out to my developer. Thanks again!

Hi guys! So everything should be taken care of.

1). Google Analytics has been added in the Privacy Policy, with a link back to their policy.

2). Whois Privacy was chosen because it was recommended by our DNS/Nameserver Godaddy. I was also receiving a lot of junk calls relating to small business loans, etc. Thought privacy might prevent some of the spam. That's what Godaddy said.

3). SSL Cert has been patched and we now get an A rating.

4). Email addresses on website have all been updated to show @pawsforacause.

5). Apache server has been upgraded.

Let me know if there is anything else that needs to be done before you can rate the site. Thanks again for being so helpful!

Alex

Maybe the same reason mywot.com registration is private.

Where is this domain listed for malware?
URLquery - clean
URLvoid - clean

WOT scorecard mentions "Malware" as a rating category but there are no trusted source listings, so one must assume a user inadvertently checked the category without providing evidence to substantiate the claim - so, let's cross that one out malware.

I'm a bit confused about your donation policy. On the website it says that you give 100% of your profits to animal shelters but your Scorecard comment says that you give 10% of each sale. So which is it? Because it can't be both unless your profits equal 10% on each transaction.

The domain has been registered using a privacy protection service although, to be fair, there is a contact address on the website itself.
