Bad Site? - anti virus software warning(s)

Post by Guest » Fri Sep 19, 2008 4:20 pm

Hello,
today I wanted to check my mails and entered hotmail.de I get following URL:
http://lc2.bay0.hotmail.passport.com/cgi-bin/login but AntiVir Premium says that there is malware......
is it true or just a false-positive?

I am not sure if my hosts files is not changed by malware;

so I just want to know if hotmail always uses this url for login if site is clean, reinstalling of Windows Vista is verified ;)

Thank you for reply

(If somebody find further unusual warnigs by his anti virus software you can post it here to keep forum neat)

checked it on "norton safe web" :
http://safeweb.norton.com/report/show?u ... 2F&x=0&y=0

passport.com seems to be clean...

EDIT:
I have checked hotmail.de now with a Linux Live CD
there I get for hotmail.de following link: http://login.live.com/login.srf?wa=wsig ... x&id=64855

so I think Vista has to be reinstalled.....

Next time write down the detection name :) I'm betting we are dealing with heuristic false positive here. Something in the site code triggered AV.

Why it is not possible to erase postings in forum...

Delta-Surfer1319: "other question: why it is not possible to erase postings in forum?"

I think the reason behind is that a post can be edited, as long as noone has yet replied.

Consider the possible confusion, if A post, then B answers, then A changes the original post, then...

Later C arrives and tries to makes sense of questions and answers no longer matching...

Hello, here is the warning:

Hello,
here is the warning: http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/8397 ... nhoyx9.jpg

it is also shown in Opera 9.52 and IE 7

I will also ask at Avira Forum, because after a new update today warning is still there...

EDIT:

found following forum entry: http://forum.avira.com/wbb/index.php?pa ... =74852#top the solution to enter hotmail is to enter www.mail.live.com and it works futher malware alarm is a false positive because if I deactivated the Webguard, I were redirected to correct login url

I could not write in Avira forum, because of an intern problem there but have written a PN to an mod. I think this problem will be solved next week ;)
