Compatability with McAfee Site Advisor

Post by Dakota.37 » Sat Sep 06, 2008 4:47 pm

How compatable is WOT with McAfee? And if there is a big difference with the ratings, which one should I trust?

Works fine here, in Firefox

Works fine here, in Firefox at least (I don't use IE). About which one to trust, I can't say as I'm biased to both ways :) (experienced reviewer in SA)

Currently WOT is faster in rating domains red (at least in that).

Use both, consider both outputs, and if in doubt ask in some security forum :)

I use both.

I use both in Firefox with no browser conflicts whatsoever.

As to which one to trust, I, like lordpake, am a volunteer reviewer with both.
It would be unethical of me to publicly endorse one rather than the other.

Trust the first...

I would recommend that you trust the first red rating,
no matter if the other is still green.

On IE I have both SA, WOT and XPL. And they dont always agree,
then again, rating takes time and mistakes are made.
But a warning is a warning no matter from who.

On FF I have SA, WOT and NoScript, and they also cooperate without problems.

PS: I too, like logicman and lordpake, am a volunteer reviewer with both.
And I still think they complement each other. Many ways to Rome...

Hi, Dakota.37 welcome!

XPL is LinkScanner, an AVG maliceous content scanner for web pages.

SA is McAfee Site Advisor, another web site testing and reviewing tool.

WOT, XPL and SA all work together fine in Firefox, except for the XPL/SA icon placement, which could be improved. I expect the same applies to IE, but I haven't tested.

hth. :-)
