Mass Rating

Post by Reprotected » Sun Sep 14, 2008 5:26 am

Mass Rating is a deadly tool, and now this finally exists, rating websites will be SO MUCH easier! But, I don't find it so useful with Trojan and Rogue websites, just spam, adult content, trustworthy websites and phishing, anyways, this powerful rating tool will be VERY useful!

Huh???

Huh???

I Googled "Mass Rating" (without the word "Rock", 'cause apparently there's a "Rock Mass Rating" thing), and all I came up with was a bunch of hits either marked yellow or red by WOT, and the green ones had to do with some kind of music thing.

So is this a WOT thing you're talking about?? Anyway, it sounds like that's what you're talking about from the context.

Sorry if I'm so dense, but I haven't heard of it with WOT. I'm relatively new to WOT.

BobJam: it's a tool for gold and platinum level users.

Keep rating, you'll get to see it soon!

with mass rating you can

with mass rating you can rate up to 100 sites at once but there is now quantity before quality, so that a lot of rated sites are put from lists which may be (too) old or not really reviewed.

So I for my part will rate qualitative further on;
so about 98% of sites rated by me are really checked for their content.

"about 98% of sites rated by me are really checked for their content."

Me too, D.1319

The only time I rate a site without a visit is if it is not currently accessible for some reason, but is known by me through spam content to belong to a specific spamvertised group. Otherwise, I look at every home page for cloned sites, and dig deeper for other sites.

For me, the mass rating tool is useful where I know the sites to belong to a group of prolific 'scattergun' spammers but have not yet found enough background information to write a useful report.

What comes to me, I usually pull my "mass-ratings" from source I consider trustworthy. This is reflected in my comment, which usually gives the reason why. This is especially true for negative comments.

That's good.

My primary 'source' is my own personal spamtraps.
I actually read this garbage, speed-reading the many same-brand
spams which are duplicates, or nearly so.

I use the term 'read' in the broadest possible sense.
How do you 'read' e.g. -

impratant missage for you
w h v t e i e t r n e o v ag a c a s v s o r c t
e a e h w d s a g f i r i li i it u i e

LOL phantazm, do you speak Klingon?

I just rated about 100 typosquat / camosquat sites using the mass tool.
I put in a comment about not having checked one at a time, but the source is impecable: sedoparking's own data!

typosquat - a website name designed to trick due to user's spelling errors.

camosquat - a website name designed to 'camouflage' a bogus web site with a reputable company's name.

sedoparking: a seller of typosquats and camosquats.

edit: and added a load of scammers after checking their whois and affiliations data.

Oh, WOT fun! :-)
