new sub-forum request

Post by c۞g » Wed Apr 09, 2014 1:44 am

Could a new sub-forum titled: spam be created?
Viewable only by Moderators and Staff, to be used as a repository of hidden posts so that the index view of a forum does not look like this:
(posts with red background are hidden from general view)

Moderators would require the ability to move the thread from it's existing forum to the hidden spam forum, though they should have this ability in all threads to move off-topic posts to the correct forum.

Also.
It took years for WOT to allow members to assist as Moderators.
It would be nice to have the ability to ban spammers before they generate so much trash, examples:

= RUS =

I support this request. Forum poorly protected from attacks.
If the WOT-staff are afraid to faulty bans, the lock member can be temporary, such as 3 days.

It would also be useful to pay attention to the comments in the scorecards. Judging by the number of spam and lack of visible reaction to the "flags", WOT-staff can not cope with a stream of complaints in the scorecard-comments.
Propose to apply crowdsourcing to moderating comments.
If I were asked to do this, I would suggest a model that was used in the social network Odnoklassniki.ru for moderation photos uploaded by users as main to their profiles.

There, people can assess incoming photos for violating rules: "meets the requirements" or "not meets the requirements". If you choose "not meets the requirements", required to specify a reason: spam; porn; child without adult; object or animal (no human face), etc.

For each person who took part in the assessment, conducted statistics: if the final decision coincided with the assessment of this man, he added scores; if the decision is not the same, a lot of points deducted.
If you attract the attention of other users to suspicious comments, this method allows faster response to complaints.

If user is banned and his posting is hidden then it's no longer visible for moderators. This should make forum more useful for you.

We have started to get lot more spam on our forum than previously. We are investigating what is the root cause and then find a way to fix it.

On scorecard we have "Flag a comment" feature that asks users to give reason for comment flagging. Our admins then check those comments and act accordingly. Maybe in future we shall give moderator power to our community like on forum.

We have had time constraints for newly registrations. Some of those spammy accounts are old and just got activated now.

<quote user="sami">We have started to get lot more spam on our forum than previously. (I hope the staff slept well last night while your faithful moderators defended your website.)

You have my support as well. A temporary ban is fine, then admins will decide.

I wonder how HowardMat could post every 60 seconds since his first post.

Here's a user account which is a candidate for being banned:

@c۞g,
Have you received authority to ban accounts yet?
