Owning Wix-Website. Cannot verify.

Post by Sturmfalke » Sat May 13, 2017 3:42 pm

Hello,
I just created an account for WOT to add a rating to my WIX-website.
I cannot edit the HTML code manually and the Meta tag verification does not work (for reasons I don't see, the code is correct, as displayed in the verification tab).
Are there and WIX Website owners that could suggest me a solution (for example, where should I upload the HTML documant alternatively, and how exactly)?

I am not very new to HTML but as said, I cannot edit the HTML with my site.
Plus, with all the work I already put in it, it's nearly impossible to change to somewhere else without a big loss of site information/settings/edits.
I hope, someone has got a solution for my problem.

Can you upload a static HTML file to the root of your site?
If not, you may need to contact MyWOT Support to verify your site.
Same deal if you have enabled HTTPS only on your site due to a WOT bug.

I am not quite sure because I usually don't have to do things as that.
I can enter a HTML code onto the site but then it's not in the head, but the body.
Adding it into the head (a window lets me do so) doesn't work as said. WOT tells me they could not find the code.
If it works, I would enter the text from the HTML file into the box I can add onto the site there, but then I have no idea how to code that.
Implementing files into a site is not what I have learned to do. I would need help then. If that even is possible.

Is http the same here? I am quite clueless what the distinction between http and https is, just that it has to do with higher security, but not if http is the same. The only thing the site allows me to enable/disable is SSL (which I don't use). I'd be happy for an explaination if possible.

If nothing is going to work, I will contact them. I want to try everything I can do myself, first.

WOT can support insecure HTTP, it is the secure HTTPS that has given the verification system a problem.
The only way to automatically verify the site is to add a meta tag or to upload a special file as a raw file.

If either methods don't work then contacting support@mywot.com would be the next step. At this point you might as well turn on HTTPS as it will not interfere with WOT Support's manual validation.
