Any improvements? Has Media Fire removed the downloaded Trojan? Will change rating if evidence shows this site is now clean.

mediafire as well as other free file sharing hosts are not infected themselves. Unfortunately too many persons use those P2P hosting servers to share malware and illegal files.
So even if MediaFire had removed that file you will find thousands of similar downloads more, there.

[edit to add] it is a sort of circle game

Thanks Peter,

FYI Virus Total is reporting that Pareto Logic says Malware. Need to know if this is a false posititve or related to the Trojan?

Hi Satch,
Let's wait for Steven, he's the specialist and I'm very busy right now restyling my own sites.

Thanks,

I am upgrading my one poor rating for Trustworthiness on MediaFire.com to borderline Caution-Good. Seems to be a more accurate representation of this site. I did a VT scan today for that site and the virus engines show it to be clean.

@ Satchman

MediaFire, I consider an excellent media hosting facilty.

I hold a professional account with it; having utilized several others in the past. Actually. It does scan files it serves for viruses, although in this instance it failed to detect the compromised code.

That's ridiculous.

ALL file-sharing sites have malicious/illegal downloads on them. It is impossible for them to remove all of those downloads.
If a file-sharing site knowingly hosts bad files, and/or links to malicious sites, then I would rate them negatively. But to classify Mediafire as warez? You might as well blacklist the whole internet.

Siblingshot,

Removed the poor rating, Gave it Caution and Good ratings in the categories. I called it a C+ overall for safety, stating in my comments that most of the files should be OK, but there might be a small number up uploads that could contain malware. But I also made the important note that Media Fire. com does NOT intentionally host malware. I think that is what WOT users need to know. I hope this updated review and comments can help them.
