Claiming a "subdomain" as yours

Post by tyw7 » Sun Sep 09, 2012 6:11 pm

I want to claim the subdomain my.opera.com/wikipedian but the site only allows me to claim "my.opera.com." Each user gets a my.opera.com/* subdomain on the MyOpera site.

You have a directory, not a subdomain. You can't claim that. You share the reputation of everyone on my.opera.com.

You might look into whether they will allow you to have your own domain name and still use their site. Other hosts do, but just glancing over the FAQ, I don't see anything like that.

I don't think you can. So you can't claim a directory? Norton Safe Search allows you to do so: http://safeweb.norton.com/report/show?url=http:%2F%2Fmy.opera.com%2Fwikipedian

WOT reputations are concerned with domains and subdomains, not URL's

Unless it is on sites.google.com domain.
You can claim a sites.google.com/site
Example: https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/_p_onuxizjpmv4gc3lqnrsq.sites.google.com
http://www.mywot.com/wiki/Shared_domains
I think they should do that in all hosting under a dictionary.

Sometimes...

Sometimes this is a possible operation:

sub.main.dom = main.com/sub

But not always, I guess...

tyw7.com is available by the way. You can get registration and hosting for a year for well under US $100 if it isn't a high-traffic site.
