I hope this is an April's fool day joke , otherwise we could be the joke of the net and just after winning, the best Privacy/Security Add-On in the About.com
My opinion
WOT needs to advance to the mobile (phone / table) device and create apps for Android, iOS, and Windows platforms..
The app should be a paid download (per device) which expires annually. This would generate a revenue stream. This would keep the PC browser add-on in full function and free to use, since the majority of WOT's data come from PC users.
+ 1
This a great idea that should be explored, but using "freemium" an outdated business model or paradigm, in particular when it go against the method of trust that WOT works with, meaning as it have been said before, we will need to rate ourselves in the negative
This is my two cents
I hope that it helps somehow as I still believe in the original idea behind WOT, and I am proud of it
My best regards !

I know a lot of thought went into this.
I know it's a limited "toe-in-the-water" test.
I am not complaining.
However, I can imagine new "business" ventures offering to boost users over the freemium threshold for a fee and possibly a little something extra, such as WoT account passwords, personal information (to be added to the WoT member "gotcha" lists), etc.

Not going to happen with WOT, I believe.

Wrong !
If this is how WOT treats people who have promoted them for years...Its disgraceful. If you wanted to sell the program for profit you should have started out that way. Now because I dont post here but DO promote you constantly on ALL of the social sites...because I have nothing better to do all day due to illness. I am really disappointed and embarassed at this point that I did recommend WOT to everyone.

You can contribute to the service by rating websites based on your own experiences.

You do not have to rate in order to use WOT, it took me a while before I chose to rate, but you can recommend it, which it was she said
I meant to correct you in this yesterday, but I was very tired
Thank you

I've been a WOT user for a few years now, and have found myself to be part of this test.

I'd like to share my thoughts- first, as some people have already stated, I don't think it's a particularly great idea to exempt people from the need to pay based simply on rating activity. I've never rated a single site. Why? Because, to be perfectly frank, I have no idea whatsoever whether a site is safe or not. I don't know how to tell. If my antivirus doesn't catch it, I have no idea. I use WOT to keep from clicking on sites (usually when I do a Google search) that may pose a danger to my computer.

Sure, I could bang out enough ratings to be considered an active user on sites that I'm reasonably sure are safe...but I never have. I would hate to unwittingly damage the accuracy of what I've found to be a very helpful add-on.

Perhaps I'm naive in this, but until now I've always gotten the impression that since rating is a voluntary action, the majority of users only rate when they actually have an idea what they're doing.

I'm willing to pay what I believe is a very reasonable price for the service offered, but absolutely not if it's so easy to become exempt from the need to pay. I wouldn't be able to trust the service anymore, so paying for it seems ridiculous.

They are the butt of countless jokes, aphorisms, and famous quotations. WoT is for everybody; the minimum requirement is being able to access the Internet.

You don't have to be a computer guru to know whether your bank, library, local stores, etc, offer good products and services. If you don't know whether their web sites are technically perfect, you can ignore that aspect - just report what you know.

With a total of two ratings under your belt, you're not going to break anything. I promise.

My activity score is 812 yet it's still asking me to pay for safety icons. What's going on?

You haven't synchronized your add-on with your account. Please see instructions here https://www.mywot.com/faq/add-on/general#twocomputers
