I am not as secretive as I seem

Post by ganmerlad » Sun Mar 07, 2010 4:06 am

I have tried half a dozen times now to make information on my profile public and it doesn't happen. What is the trick to show "about me"?

Open your profile

Open your profile
Click on the Edit tab in the profile menu
Scroll down to: Personal Information
Enter what you wish into the text input areas.
To the right of that is a lock icon.
Locks with the red x means "not locked / public" and the word "Everyone" is displayed
Locks with no red x means "locked / private" and the words "Only me" are displayed.
Click the lock to change the settings
The same for Background Information section.

Here's the final secret
Scroll all the way down the page and click Submit to save your changes. :-)

After clicking Submit, you return to your profile page. Click the tab "Public view"
What you see displayed there is what you intend for the rest of us to see.

I see this:

"ganmerlad Bronze Level Member

“My favorite word is "interesting", my second favorite word is "funny". ”

Member since: March 2010

So I guess that it worked somehow..?

I think I got it. It is all about the lock and nothing to do with the 'only me' 'everyone' choice.

Thank you for typing all that out

Thank you both for replying. That was way harder than it should have been to get things showing like I wanted. No wonder most users have nothing on their public profile. It is a test. ;)
