Here's an answer to "why not"
"if it ain't broke, don't fix it"
Changing something just to change it is no good reason. I'm sure there's more to it than that.

Is it me or has anyone else
Is it me or has anyone else noticed that since the new look the activity scores have not updated? I have made a few forum posts and rated some sites in the last few days and my activity score has remained the same!

Activity scores are being updated normally and they are completely separate from the website. You should remember that the higher your activity score gets, the more difficult it will be to increase it.
Thank you,
For giving us the check website box back.

But it's the human nature to change something only to see what's up after this change.
As you now: "There isn't just one way of doing it." Especially in software development you go today this way and tomorrow a completely different, but much faster, way to the same conclusion. If you never changed it you're unable to find the new way.
Just my 2 cents.
