As you may have guessed I need to convert some youtube files. Problem is, I don't know a trustworthy site. I've used vidtomp3 in the past but ended up with a trojan that was hell to get rid of, despite never clicking on the ads.

So does anyone know a trustworthy site? And one that's used regularly? Thanks for getting back to me :)

"need to convert some youtube files"

If you use Firefox then there are a number of free addons that can download and convert YouTube videos to a selection of formats. No need to involve any third party sites. Just be careful of possible copyright issues.

youtube-mp3.org

This is also available as a Firefox extension:

I use video2mp3 from DonationCoder: http://skwire.dcmembers.com/wb/pages/so ... -2-mp3.php

You just drag & drop the videos on the file and it creates an mp3 file of the same name in the same folder as video2mp3.

Do not confuse this app with others with a similar name or from another website. It is not affiliated with those others. This one was made by special request of someone on the DonationCoder forum. http://www.donationcoder.com/forum/inde ... ic=20726.0

There has been an issue with some antivirus software throwing up a false positive for a trojan on it but I talked to the developer (I know him very well and he is a highly trusted member of the DonationCoder community) and he explained why antivirus software is doing this to his file...

It contains a copy of MEncoder executable from the MPlayer package inside the file, which gets extracted when you drop a video file on it. It then runs that file with the command line parameters to do the conversion to mp3. Some antivirus software never likes when you have an exe inside of an exe and will freak out about it no matter how harmless the file is.

AudioThief is a good one. It even converts it into an flv for you if want to download the video.
