Intrusion Prevention for Fx

Post by lordpake » Sat Jun 28, 2008 4:18 pm

I'd like to add one imho very useful extension to the list: Firekeeper. Although in alpha stage, I do find the concept interesting to say the least.

From the site: "It is able to detect, block and warn the user about malicious sites. Firekeeper uses flexible rules similar to Snort ones to describe browser based attack attempts. Rules can also be used to effectively filter different kinds of unwanted content."

You can also use it conjuction with malware blocklist, that has up-to-date list about malware-spreading domains.

and what about Noscript?

You are missing Noscript, that is a must have to surf the web in the most safe way. With Noscript well configured, anyone can surf almost any place, even some very dangerous ones.

Another good one for FireFox is key scrambler but it doesn't seem to be available for FF3 yet. If anyone knows how to install it, let me know

If I should recommend only one addon to FireFox, it would be NoScript

Firefox Addons

Post by Security_Wiz » Sat Sep 27, 2008 1:27 am

I use WOT, Ad-Block-Plus, NoScript, and Finjan SecureBrowsing. And as for themes, the default Firelight theme, and I'm testing Chromifox and a Cat theme. So far, the red/blue cat theme is the best, and Chromifox is nice and clean.

However, I'm on a Mac so I might take off Finjan SecureBrowsing or disable it for a little while.

I keep telling myself that all these addons will slow down Firefox, but now I'm not worried at all, especially compared to Yatti420. xD

I agree, I useAd-block-plus, NoScript and of course WOT but I can also recommend Flagfox, it jumps in and tells you that even though this is .co.uk it is actually in Canada or wherever and other interesting stuff like whois etc. and also the Alexa Sparky to find out whats linking in, you can find out all sorts of things. and no I’m not really paranoid just careful. enjoy.
