This is being slandered for political reasons

http://www.thisisecocide.com

It shouldnt be a part of WOT's mission to decide what is politically correct.

Hello, woeesten.

You claim that "slanderous morons are giving this website low ratings." Since your's was the sole comment I could find on the scorecard, there is no evidence to support the allegation. However, the site would appear to have attracted poor ratings. Such ratings have been cast in a secret ballot, without attendant commentary.

URLVoid scans as SUSPICIOUS; albeit only as a result of WOT detection.

robtex summarises: "Vendor reliability and privacy of this site is good. Child safety is poor. Trustworthiness is unsatisfactory."

Again, as a result of WOT ratings.

The site is not on any blacklists.

According to Whois thisisecocide.com is properly registered ( a UK address) through Tucows, Inc.

http://www.robtex.com/dns/thisisecocide.com.html#whois

As to content, I see no reason whatsoever to rate this site down.

"Polly Higgins is an international environmental lawyer." She has an additional site, pollyhiggins.com.

From the site:

Each day 100 living species become extinct, 1,000 acres of peat bogs are excavated and 150,000 acres of tropical rainforest are destroyed. Each day, 2 million tons of toxic waste is dumped in to our rivers and seas, 22 million tons of oil are extracted and 100 million tons of greenhouse gases are released.

Today large scale habitat destruction, massive soil depletion, extensive deforestation lead to worldwide disruption of natural cycles and the irreversibility of extinction. Today instances of mass extinction occur with greater frequency, greater rapidity and greater impact than at any other time.

A recent report for the United Nations has found that 3,000 of the world’s biggest corporations caused $2.2 trillion of ecocide in 2008."

The site employs two tracking cookies, Facebook Social Plugins and Google Analytics, although I can locate no reference to them. And no Privacy Policy. As such I rated less than excellent on Privacy. Name and email address are required fields in engaging in commentary, or contactacting the site direct.

As to the current poor rating on Child Safety, I see absolutely nothing concrete to support this.

On the contrary, I feel that children might benefit substantially in acquainting themselves with those facts and opinions this site catalogues.

The site contains purchasing links to Higgin's book "Eradicating Ecocide: Laws and Governance to Stop the Destruction of the Planet", which direct to Amazon UK.

Rated.

@ SuperHero58

Some interesting observations. I missed the reference "to kill a tree is the same thing as to kill a human being".

Not an opinion I would personally subscribe to.

One minor correction, unless I'm missing something else. The site is not selling any books; it simply provides a link to Amazon UK, the retailer or vendor. Any sales contract, then, is entered into through Amazon alone. What royalties eventually proceed to the author is dependent on the (author's) legal contact with Shepheard-Walwyn (Publishers) Ltd.

Also. I just noticed that the site offers a mailing list with the following rider:

"Privacy: we do not disclose personal information to anyone."

I have the impression, too, that the OP has no direct relationship with the site owner. Therefore, any advice or recommendation as to Privacy Policy (Cookie Policy by extension) is liable to fall on deaf ears. Just an observation.

@ siblingshot =

Thank you for your observation, and I do stand corrected

The site does not sell any books -

This is part of heated conversation in which a user said:

" green arrow: Oh yes, and '-42-', you say that cutting trees is not the same as killing people. But it's exactly what it..."

And was not censured

I perused the forum and found that negative "communication" going on, do not get me wrong I would not rate down the site, just because what is going on in this forum, but I do believe that it creates an environment of us versus them that does not help

I want to thank you for bringing to my attention an overlooked fact, the link goes to Amazon.com
Based on this , Rated !

@ SuperHero58

I have yet to beat my cigarette addiction. I have no doubt 'smoked' enough trees to deforest a small plantation. This, before I begin to reflect on my regular size 'carbon footprint'; as your Average Joe.

Fast food. Too many beers. Landfills.

As such, I am probably every self-respecting eco-warrior's chain-smoking nemesis.

To rate the site safe is probably the least I can do. Providing it is so, of course.

@ woeesten = Welcome to our forum -

I recommend a privacy policy, you do sell books -

My opinion about the content of your site is a rather sad one, there is so much anger that can easily be confused with hate .

If your message is a good one, there is not need to radicalize it, by saying things like "to kill a tree is the same thing as to kill a human being" that is a scary thing to say or hear

Some of those, who claim to protect the environment act as terrorists, green terrorists. I am not saying that you are one of them, but no one cares for any message that needs to scare people into listening; at the end it can backfire to the point of driving people away from such beautiful goal and that will truly be a shame, for then you will the ones guilty of what you accuse others of doing!

At this moment over 140 thousand trees have been planted, in the last ten months with the help of two major corporations in Canada

I will never perceive them as enemies, but allies in the goal of protecting the environment nor do I believe that progress and environmental responsibility could not go hand in hand
I wish you well -
Edit -10.03am

" But when you want money
for people with minds that hate
All I can tell is brother you have to wait
Don't you know it's gonna be all right
all right, all right "

Hello thanks for the replies. I am not affiliated with this website, I just get irritated when I see WOT used as leverage against uncommon opinions. As you can see Polly is a real activist and author who does not deserve a flag on WOT for any apparent reason. Thanks.
