in other words this takes parameters from a URI of a previous domain/subdomain and forces your browser to visit yet another.

which redirects to (in my last "visit")

This is a tracking domain

Use an extension such as TamperData
or _look_ in your browser history as well as your cookies
and "see" all those trackers / redirectors

Microsoft creates OS
and a browser
and office software

They also aggregate data telling you "no information is collected"
while storing, indexing, and associating users, their browsing, their habits, and their location
It's called finger printing (search the forum)

Does anyone ever check these before jumping on the MRT bandwagon?
How many other references in this thread should be ... removed and rated correctly for what they do rather than who owns them?

I remember when it first started with shopping, did not know about mail but just heard last week about them now attacking the play store with more "scroogled" news about sharing your personal information to app makers.
I find this unethical because it is unfair competition.

I agree. While they are putting out some relevant and useful information the manor they use many times is pretty crude and unprofessional.
