. . . this seems to be getting worse.
Now, when I log in and try to got to my personal space, I get a "too many redirects trying to open . . ." sort of message.

I am not certain that it happens when the page is loaded: If I stay in just one tab and cycle from one page to another in a short period of time, I remain logged in. When I don't do that for a longer period of time, then I am logged out - even though I left the page logged in.

Now I wonder if someone has experimented with a timeout. I realize that speculations are probably futile, but it's fun to try.

I made a try. This is clearly a timeout. Surely a problem with garbage collection process (gc_maxlifetime).

That confirms why my session stays alive when I let a browser window on the main page. Queries are made every 5 seconds to get the number of downloads (and so are my cookies). So, the date of my session is updated and that avoids to be caught by the garbage collection.

it has nothing to do with garbage collection.

Just to give the idea of the cause of the problem: sessions are stored in the memory cache and that one has a limit. If something will put too much sessions in the cache, overflow will happen and previously stored sessions will be lost (replaced by new sesions).

The issue has it's history in the past when the website was DDOSed. Something similar is happening now.

The solution is to add more memory to servers, identify ddoser and ban it. None of that is a fix forever.

I am logged out after one page. This is past being ridiculous!
This is now a pernicious problem.

Millions of servers suffer from servile dysfunction. Stop living in the shadows. When the time is right ask your IT guy if Serveragra is right for you.

I have been having this same issue for a long time with both Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.
